The Top 5 Wedding Registry Gifts We Still Use Today – 8 Years Later

We’ve been married for eight years, and it occurred to me recently that there’s one wedding gift that we STILL use EVERY SINGLE DAY, multiple times. I started thinking about the other wedding gifts we still have kicking around, and the ones we don’t. So, I would like to share with you now, the 5 TOP Wedding Registry Gifts that we STILL use today after 8 years of marriage. If you are looking for Top Wedding Registry Gifts and ideas, read on…

My Personal Top Wedding Registry Gifts

#5 White Kitchen Plates

WHITE kitchen plates. Now I know what you’re thinking, “But these whimsical birds on branches would look SO adorable on my woodland-inspired friendsgiving tablescape!” Listen up. Do you really want birds watching you eat for the next 20 years? Get the plain white plates. Every restaurant ever knows the color of plate you were meant to eat off of. (Except Pancho’s. They blew it.)

Crate and Barrel has a beautiful line of inoffensive plain white plates and bowls.

The plate pictured above is from Amazon: Corelle Livingware 6-Piece Dinner Plate Set, Winter Frost White

#4 This tiny pan

My Aunt sent this to us after we were married with a note that “it’s the perfect size for two”, and that they used this pan more than any other. She was right. I have cooked so many salmon fillets on this thing, and reheated restaurant leftovers. It’s nonstick, super easy to clean, and still going strong after 8 years of use. She went off registry, and I am so glad she did. I wouldn’t think to register for such a small pan, but I use it ALL the time.

#3 Storage Containers

Guess what, you’re always going to have more stuff.

#2 Pizza Cutter

pizza cutter oldOur #2 item is a pizza cutter that originally belonged to my Grandma. This thing looks like it was made in the 1800’s. Did they have pizza back then? My Aunt Vickie (the Aunts know what’s UP!) parted with this amazing piece of craftsmanship, along with a pizza pan and a pizza making kit (so cute!). We had NO IDEA the sacrifice she made in giving up that pizza cutter until we used it the first time. It’s the best little thing. Sharp as a whistle. Cuts pizza like … like it’s a pizza cutter that’s just really, really good at its job. It’s the kind of pizza cutter you take pride in, that you force your friends to try out when they’re over.

Sorry, look at me here just bragging about this great thing that I have and you couldn’t possibly ever have. So allow me to list some other pizza cutter for you that will never measure up to the one I have:

This pizza cutter has excellent reviews, and I do love OXO products:

#1 And the TOP wedding gift we’ve used EVERY DAY for 8 years is….. garbage!

Really, it’s our garbage can. This stainless saucy minx is the Cadillac of trash cans. Every time I press my foot on the lever, it opens. 100% of the time, every time. In a marriage, you want something you can count on. Not once has this trash can needed a software update or a hard reset. It’s wireless, it’s gluten-free, it’s stainless steel the way God intended. It has a form factor that stands the test of time. No notch. No antenna. Never have I been asked if it’s an older years model or if I’m planning to upgrade soon. No my friends, my friends behold and accept this mana from stainless steel heaven. It’s the kind of product that tells everyone hey, I take pride in my discarded waste.

simplehuman Slim Step Can Brushed Stainless Steel 45 Liters / 12 Gallons

We’ve had this beauty for 8 years….let’s say 2,928 days of use, stepping on the lever a conservative 30 times per day between the two of us (we’ve got kids)…gives us 87,600 times we’ve used this baby, and not once, not NEVER has it let us down.

Some may ask if they really need the stainless steel model. Wouldn’t a rose gold plastic trash can do the trick? To them I ask, WHAT IS THE PRICE OF 86,700 STEPS? Would you want to walk 16.65 MILES IN PLASTIC SHOES? (don’t question the math, just accept)

Simple Human, please take this #1 spot, and you hold your heads high, for you have created a product so perfect, so effortless (disclaimer: my husband takes out the trash), so timelessly beautiful in every way.

Disclaimer: This trashcan is the closest current model to our 8-year old model. Our lid is black instead of stainless steel like this one. I am actually starting to get jealous of all of you 2017’ers that have the option to have a stainless lid. SMH You’re so lucky.

So, tell me…

If you are, or have been married, what was your favorite wedding gift? Or if you might ever get married…or just start a registry for a random birthday (“cause why should married people get all the good stuff? You’ve already got a SOUL MATE WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT?”), what would be your top wedding registry gifts?
