Forest Fairy Photoshoot DIY

The Garland
This is the exact garland featured in my photoshoot! This Amazon photo doesn’t do it justice. It is even more beautiful in real life. One of the best features of this garland is that you can pop off each floral swag and reattach it other places in the garland, to get just the right placement. (Hard to explain, but it will make sense when you see it!)

The Backdrop
And here is the Forest backdrop. It’s is 7ft by 5 ft, which worked perfectly for me. I was photographing one child at a time. You could probably get 2-3 people in the photo if they squeeze. 🙂 (Also, please note I photoshopped a few glowing “fireflies” onto my final fairy photo – FYI the backdrop does not come with the glowing fireflies, but looks gorgeous all the same!)

The Dress
Flower Girls Maxi Dress
That fairy dress! I found this gorgeous dress on Amazon and it was stunning. It is VERY long, but worked for my tall girls. So yes, I bought the blue dress….but confession time….I dressed my girls in the SAME dress and adjusted the color on one of them to look different. (So the purple’ish pinkish color in the photo was definitely photoshopped – the actual dress I bought is royal blue.) But definitely check out the other gorgeous colors – they have a ton! Maybe you won’t be cheap like me, and you can actually get each of your children their own dress. 🤣 Flower Girls Maxi Dress

The backdrop stand I used is several years old, so I don’t have an exact link for that one. But this one from Amazon has great reviews and should do the job!
If you are making a Forest Fairy Photoshoot, you can totally do this! It’s a total blast. If you are a photography PRO, do not read on.
Okay, for the amateurs…if you have photo lights, fabulous! If not, you can angle the backdrop to be facing a window. Natural light can be gorgeous, and north facing windows give good light. Practice a few days early, at the time of day you will be doing your photoshoot. If you have a pro level camera, make sure you use a lower f stop number and always put the focal point on one of the eyes. If you’re using a cell phone, consider using Portrait mode. 😘
